Textbook Adoption Deadlines and Reminders

It’s textbook adoption time! Here are 3 important reminders for you: 

1. Course Scheduler Deadline: If the total cost of textbooks for your course is $40 or less at the JMU Bookstore, please alert the relevant staff in your department as soon as possible so they can add this information to Course Scheduler. This allows students to find your class in MyMadison when they filter for “No/Low Cost Course Materials.” Students will be able to view this info starting on March 31 at 10am. 

2. Textbook Adoption Deadline: The deadline to finalize your Fall textbook choices with the bookstore is April 15! Even if you do not intend to use a textbook for your course, please notify the Bookstore so they can list that information in MyMadison. 

3. Try Open Textbooks! They offer a more affordable alternative for students without compromising on quality. 
   • How do I find open textbooks for my course? You can find open textbooks, open syllabi, and more on our website.  
   • How do I create my own content? We can help you create or modify existing open content for your course. 

Open textbooks are just one of the many ways you can make textbooks more affordable for your students. And we can help!
