Private Study Spaces at JMU

JMU has lots of group study rooms, but usually these are only for two or more people. What if you need a room just for yourself, for a zoom call or appointment?

Private Study & Work Spaces

Quiet booths in Rose Library

The first-come, first-served Zenbooths on the 3rd and 4th floors of Rose Library are equipped with outlets and adjustable tables. It’s no wonder these sound-dampening quiet booths are so popular! The number of quiet booths in Rose Library increased from 3 to 8 when Carrier Library closed for construction.

Quiet booths in The Union

First-come, first-served Zenbooths are also available in the Airport Lounge on the 4th Floor of Warren. The best time to score a Zenbooth is first thing in the morning.

University Career Center

Private rooms are available in the Interview Center on the 3rd floor of the Student Success Center any time they are not needed for employer interviews. Fill out this form to reserve a room for job, internship, & graduate school related interviews, for telehealth appointments, and for quiet study space for individuals and groups.

University Health Center

A private room is available for students who have a need to complete a telehealth visit with an outside provider. To reserve the space, call 540-568-6178 and ask for an appointment for telehealth space.

Public Study & Work Spaces

JMU Libraries Express

JMU Libraries Express, new as of 2023, tends to see less traffic than spaces that have been open for a longer time.

Meeting rooms

Many classrooms and meeting rooms in The Union, Festival, and other buildings are also open to students when they are not reserved. Just be sure to check the schedule outside the door and leave the furniture how you found it.
