STS Futures Lab Receives Grant with Libraries Support

Drs. Emily York and Shannon Conley, faculty within Integrated Science and Technology, in collaboration with Eric Stauffer, Director of Instructional Design and Technology within JMU Libraries, received a $4,000.00 College of Integrated Science and Engineering (CISE) Faculty Development Grant. This grant will aid in further expanding the STS Futures Lab, that conducts research, enhances teaching, and explores pedagogical development in anticipatory ethical governance of emerging technologies utilizing ethical reasoning with 360 video, virtual reality, and 3D printing.

JMU’s College of Integrated Science and Engineering houses the STS Futures Lab, which “embrace[s] interdisciplinary collaboration to better understand and address the complexities that arise at the interface of science, technology, and society, with a particular emphasis on the mid- to long-term futures of technological trajectories.”
