Wynn Culbertson

About me

As the assistant to the Music Library I am the Music Library’s primary contact for Course Reserves, Interlibrary Loan (ILL), Access & Delivery, and the Alma Governance Board. Within the Music Library I oversee the MusiCommons computer lab, equipment loans, audio technology, stacks maintenance, and the Music Library’s Special Collections. I also assist the Music Library Services Manager, Karen Snively, with hiring, training, and supervising the Music Library’s Wage staff and student employees.

B.S. Recording Industry Management, Middle Tennessee State University (2008)

First in class from the College of Mass Communication with a focus in Production & Technology and a minor in Electronic Media Communication

• Musician (euphonium, trombone, bass guitar, alto/tenor voice)
• Audio Engineering Society (AES) executive officer
• Audio engineer and live sound technician
• JMU Facilities Management (Utilities) (hazmat certified)
• Instructor: woodcarving, basketry, leather-craft, wilderness survival, emergency preparedness, first aid
• General craftsman: perfumery, metalworking, painting, and more
• Commercial lab technician (hazmat certified)
• Contract and technical writing for small businesses (retail)
• Special education classroom aide and long-term substitute (Augusta County Public Schools)
• Event and wedding photographer
• Social media manager & graphic designer

Trivia

• In 2004 a day was declared in my honor by act of Congress.
• Photographs of mine have been included in photography curriculum at two universities.
