About me

I catalog materials for our Special Collections unit, including rare books, finding aids, manuscripts, artists books, broadsides, juvenelia, and faculty publications. I create original records for all JMU electronic theses and dissertations, and provide detailed subject analysis for ETDs. I create authority records for JMU dissertants, JMU departments, local persons and organizations. I am also our OCLC liaison, and presently assigned as the juvenile (ETMC) book cataloger.

About Metadata Strategies

We facilitate effective discovery of JMU collections through conventional and emergent information technologies. We create and manage metadata for scholarly, identity management, and cultural heritage purposes. We also create and manage metadata for relevant resources both maintained internally by the Libraries and external to it. We provide “metadata-as-a-service” consultations and training for faculty, staff, and students.

About Discovery, Access, and Technology

We are responsible for collections, metadata, and technology. Departments include Access and Delivery, Interlibrary Loan and Course Reserves, Metadata Strategies, Collection Administration, Scholarly Communications Strategies, and Technology.
