Guide to Library Call Numbers
Most items in the JMU Libraries are cataloged according to the Library of Congress (LC) classification system, using a combination of numbers and letters in a set order. The letters at the beginning of each call number indicate the book or item’s subject area. Learn more about how to find a book using call numbers.
