Summer Stipend for Transitioning to OER
JMU Libraries’ Transition-to-OER summer stipend program provides funding for faculty to do critical course redesign work, such as developing new assignments and graded activities, when transitioning to an open textbook or other open educational resources (OER).

Applications for 2024-2025 are now closed.
This summer program will award up to five (5) $2,000 stipends to instructors to develop a new syllabus using open and affordable course materials that will be implemented during the 2024-2025 academic year.
Awardee Expectations
- attend the cohort orientation
- list your course as no-cost in MyMadison during class enrollment periods
- publish your new/revised syllabus to VIVA Open under a Creative Commons license
- provide a reflection of your program experience at the end of the year
