Lecture Capture Tools at JMU

Need to record a presentation? When you want to create screen-capture presentations or record your lecture for asynchronous learning, you have access to two JMU-supported tools:
- Canvas Studio – Create, share, and discuss videos (and audio!) seamlessly in Canvas using Studio.
- Camtasia – Create your own videos with Camtasia, a lecture capture tool for recording, robust editing, and sharing instructional videos.
What’s the difference between these tools? Canvas Studio is a simple screen capture tool to add video to your courses quickly, directly in Canvas. Camtasia allows you greater control over video production, with a robust suite of editing tools, but Camtasia files need to be uploaded to Canvas Studio (or another video storage solution) when you want to share them with students.
