JMU Libraries endorses JMU Faculty Senate Resolution on Faculty Value Commitments

Posted January 20, 2017 in JMU Libraries News

On this Inauguration Day we continue to reflect on civic engagement and the importance of education, literacy, and libraries in our free and democratic society. As Carla Hayden, Librarian of Congress, recently noted, “Frederick Douglass said, “Once you learn to read, you will forever be free.” If you can absorb information yourself and make your own decisions, that’s a freedom.” We at JMU Libraries are working actively to create a safe community so that you can find the information and support you need, and we are committed to upholding the recent JMU Faculty Senate resolution on Faculty Value Commitments.
