Library locations

Find your favorite spots to study in our library locations or other JMU buildings. Check out this brief video tour of our library spaces: Rose Library, the Music Library, the ETMC, and JMU Libraries Express.

Group study rooms

Reserve a group study room to study with your friends or meet with your group. Or use one of the non-reservable, “first-come, first-served” group study rooms.

Coffee and food

Rose Library features a Starbucks café. Visit the JMU Dining site for their service hours.

Find books, articles, and more

Search our collections

Use Library Search to find books, e-books, articles, videos, music, and more. Learn what is included in Library Search results. Visit our online resources page for details on accessing databases, e-books, streaming video, and more. If you can’t find what you need, Ask the Library or contact the liaison librarian for your degree program.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

When you need a book, article, or other resource that’s not in JMU’s collections, request it from Interlibrary Loan. We do our best to use the global network of libraries to get it to you, quickly and free of charge.

Delivery service

Use our delivery service to request items ahead of time for pickup at any library location.

Course reserves

If your instructor has placed a shortened checkout period on high-use books/items for your class, search for it in Course Reserves.

Newspaper subscriptions

Access the New York Times and Wall Street Journal through our subscriptions. Looking for other news sources? View our full list of news-related databases.

The JMU Scholarly Commons is an open-access institutional repository for sharing your scholarship worldwide, increasing its visibility and reach.

Feed your creativity

Makerspace

Create, tinker, craft, invent, and discover new skills in our makerspace in Rose Library. Try our 3D printers, sewing machine, laser cutters, art supplies, and more in The Makery, located on the first floor of Rose. Our knowledgeable and helpful staff are available to help you with academic and personal projects to foster your creativity.

Multimedia equipment

We offer an array of digital media tools and facilities, including a narration room and creative media software. You can also borrow equipment such as cameras, microphones, and camcorders. Our Music Library also offers equipment to check out.
