In that role, she provides instruction to students, development for faculty, and collection development around topics of health.

Q&A with Carolyn

Q: What excites you most about your new role?

A: This job requires listening and understanding the information needs of our community. I look forward to expanding my awareness of curricula and scholarship at JMU to include additional disciplines. I also am excited to work with so many smart and creative colleagues to develop solutions that support research and education at JMU.

Q: What’s your favorite local restaurant?

A: Boboko is a lovely little restaurant in the Ice House complex. I like trying new flavors and food combinations. The owners are also wonderful people—I enjoy supporting the local community. I also love Poke Alakai—a bubble tea + poke bowl is my idea of a healthy but indulgent treat. Reminds me of my own college days back at University of California, Irvine.

Q: What would you like everyone at JMU to know about you?

A: I want everyone to know they can ask me almost anything! I like helping people and solving problems. Some of my best adventures have come from the surprise of opportunities I hadn’t previously imagined or considered. My scholarship reflects some of the adventures I’ve pursued with faculty, staff, and students.
