Feature Friday: Brian Charette on JMU Libraries

Posted October 8, 2021 in Feature Friday, Giving to JMU Libraries News, JMU Libraries News

Brian Charette is a familiar face to many at JMU, and he is no stranger to the Libraries! He has worn many “hats” at JMU – instructor, consultant, director, AVP, and his current role as Special Assistant to the President for Strategic Planning & Engagement. (Outside JMU, he has also served in the U.S. Marine Corps, worked for a local radio station, and occasionally preaches at his church!) These roles at JMU have given him the opportunity to experience many facets of the Libraries.

Brian was kind enough to send us some words of appreciation for Libraries staff, which we are pleased to share with you, not only to honor the contributions of these valued individuals, but also to give you a glimpse into the many aspects of our work in JMU Libraries.

Words of thanks from Brian Charette:

“I LOVE the library and librarians! I think they are the most responsive group I’ve ever worked with.

Elaine Kaye is always there for me with Canvas or instructional design help. She is absolutely un-annoyable.

Kathy Clarke has been an important factor in the success of the debate assignment we have in our class.

Jamie Calcagno-Roach was instrumental in getting me set up in the EPIC classrooms.

I wouldn’t even know about the existence of Microsoft Teams – let alone how to use it – without Jody Fagan.

Andrea Adams is resourceful and kind, an important part of the Engaged Learning Consortium, and on and on it goes.

Not only have library professionals helped me consistently and repeatedly, I am certain that the library will be at the center of where we want to go with teaching and learning as we discover what “new normal” means.”

Brian, thanks for sending these words of appreciation! We appreciate you, too!
