Equipment Loan Policy

Loan Period

The standard loan period for all eligible borrowers is 4 days. Longer loan periods (up to two weeks) can be arranged with staff by phone, in person, or by the online reservation request form.

Delegate pick up

Faculty or staff may send students or another person to pick up equipment reservations; however, the borrower must give the designee a signed note or email authorizing JMU Libraries to release the reservation. If the designee does not have appropriate documentation, JMU Libraries will not release the equipment. The designee should also have his or her JACard for identification.

Equipment Loans for Course Reserves

Equipment purchased by Libraries will not be eligible for course reserve, however, faculty with personal equipment requesting to be made available will be considered on a case-by-case basis for course reserve. Contact reserves@jmu.edu with any questions.

Item replacement fees

Users will incur an item replacement fee if an item is 30 days overdue.

The borrower is responsible for returning all equipment in good working order. There is a $5.00 fee for each missing or damaged item (e.g. USB cables). Some parts and accessories may also incur an actual cost replacement fee.
