JMU faculty and staff, are you searching for a platform to publish an open textbook, white paper, technical report, or open-access book?
We have two ways to help you get started using Pressbooks, an ideal tool for creating openly-licensed teaching, learning, and scholarly materials in the form of ebooks.
- Sign up for a workshop: Join our virtual workshop on March 5, 2025.
- Learn at your own pace: Join our self-paced Canvas course specifically designed for JMU instructors.
What you’ll learn: The workshop and self-paced course both cover textbook design, interactive textbook elements, intellectual property considerations, an introduction to a textbook publishing platform, and more. This is a great resource to support faculty who are applying for VIVA’s Content Creation grants ($15,000-$50,000).
Contact: Our Open Education Librarian, Liz Thompson, will host the virtual workshop as part of Open Education Week (March 3-7). Feel free to reach out with any questions or ideas you’d like to share about Open Education at JMU.
