Course Reserves Are Online Only for Fall (Updated September 16)

Posted September 16, 2020 in JMU Libraries News

To support student health and safety, the Libraries’ Course Reserves service is limited to online/electronic resources only this fall.

How to submit Course Reserves requests

Faculty members: please submit requests using the Course Reserves management system. We will inform you of the options available. You may also be referred to your liaison librarian, who can help you identify online/electronic options, including free, online textbooks and other open educational resources.

How to find Course Reserves

Visit this Course Reserves page and search for items on reserve. Type in your course code (e.g. HIST or HIST 385), your instructor’s last name, or the title or ISBN of the book/item. Please Ask the Library if you need help finding a book or other item on reserve.

How many students can use a digital Course Reserves reading at the same time?

Ebooks from the Libraries’ collection provided via Course Reserves will have a variety of access limits. Some ebooks will allow for unlimited simultaneous users. Other ebooks will allow only one or a few simultaneous users. These limits are often set by the publisher. Reserves materials in other formats may have different allowances for simultaneous uses. Please ask reserves@jmu.edu if you would like more information about how many people can use a digital Course Reserves reading at the same time.
