Our New “Library Search” Tool (Updated July 15)
Posted July 15, 2020 in General Collections News, JMU Libraries News
We are pleased to announce a new Library Search tool as part of a new integrated library system (ILS) system debuting in early July. Library Search brings together the JMU Libraries’ catalog and many of our databases and journals, so you can search in one place to discover almost everything we offer.
The new Library Search tool is the most publicly visible part of our switch to Alma and Primo VE, a cloud-based ILS from Ex Libris, a ProQuest company. This new ILS, designed to streamline the management of our print and digital collections, provides improved functionality for patrons and Libraries staff.
While you may see Library Search as simply a new way to find and view the Libraries’ books, ebooks, videos, music, articles, and more, the ILS is also the backbone of library operations. It is used for checking items in and out, cataloging, requesting, processing holds, and keeping track of our materials.
Here is more information about the Library Search tool. If you have questions about using it, please Ask the Library.
