Center for International Stabilization and Recovery Book Display

Posted March 18, 2015 in Exhibits

The Center for International Stabilization and Recovery’s (CISR) Post-Conflict Recovery Week (PCRW) presents the current book display in Rose and Carrier Libraries through the end of April 2015. Please browse our displays to learn more about post-conflict recovery topics, including removing landmines; refugees; global security; and gender, sexual violence, and conflict.

The keynote speaker for PCRW 2015 is Aki Ra, winner of CNN’s 2010 Hero Award and former Khmer child soldier. Other PCRW events turn to our Harrisonburg community as CISR’s Director Dr. Ken Rutherford presents on the use of landmines during the U.S. Civil War, a panel discussion led by refugees explores their experiences since moving to Harrisonburg, and Husam Abudlazeez, a photographer and Iraqi refugee living locally, displays his photography.

All events are sponsored by JMU’s CISR with support from JMU’s Institute of Visual Studies, the Department of Graduate Psychology, the Department of Justice Studies, the Department of Political Science, McClung Companies, and the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation.

JMU Libraries is proud to support CISR’s Post-Conflict Recovery Week with these book displays to educate our community on these important topics.
