Bicycling in the Shenandoah Valley & the Rise of the SVBC
Posted April 11, 2019 in JMU Libraries News
Created in 2008 from a merger of the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Club (formed in 1982) and the Shenandoah Mountain Bike Club (formed in 1996), the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC) envisions an active and organized cycling community in the central Shenandoah Valley.
Join us for this Special Collections Speaker Series as we hear from a panel of guests associated with SVBC. Topics will include SVBC’s history and merger; bike shops in Harrisonburg; iconic rides such as the Century, AGVITHH, Super Bowl Sunday Ride, and others; and Harrisonburg’s first bicycle plan. Materials from the SVBC Records, housed in JMU Special Collections, will be on display.
It will be held in Carrier Library room 301 from 4:00 to 5:00pm and Refreshments available.
Free parking available at Mason Street Deck.
