Are You Ready to Vote This Fall?
Posted September 16, 2024 in JMU Libraries News
The student vote is the decisive factor in many election races. How can we help make sure everyone is registered to vote?
- Stop by our voter education and registration table booth on Tuesday, September 17, 2 to 4pm in Rose Library!
- Review the helpful 2024 Election Guide and FAQ from the Madison Center for Civic Engagement.
- Register to vote or check your registration status using JMU’s Turbovote site.
- Consider inviting Dukes Vote into your classrooms, if you are an instructor or faculty member, by signing up for a Class Visit here. The last day for class visits this fall is October 15.
Why do students need help? Some college students are new to voting, may think registering will be difficult, don’t know how to update their address, may not yet see themselves as a voter, or face other barriers to voting. Learn more in the U.S. Department of Education Toolkit for the Promotion of Voter Participation for Students.
We’ll help anyone register to vote! Our National Voter Registration Day booth on September 17 will help anyone register to vote in any state. We can also answer questions about voting—how to find your polling place, what to bring on Election Day, etc.
Thanks to the James Madison Center for Civic Engagement and Dukes Vote for partnering with us on this!
